| Joshua R. Mon, 02/11/2008 21:54 |
I've got another idea guys, (a bit of a stab in the dark this one but who knows might work) if we all e-mail/write/phone the BBC and ask them to buy up planet rock given the amount of listeners 500,000+ and the way the governments been pushing digital theres a remote possibility they might buy up planet rock. |
| Joshua R. Mon, 02/11/2008 21:47 |
Just been listening to planet rock while i'v been welding my car. Rick wakemen says they will soon be organising a way we can practically save the station, if anyone knows more about this (Rick if your out there reading this) then please let me know. Hope this means collectively buying the station, then we can guarantee it never closes down! jossratcliffe@gmail.com |
| Richard N. Mon, 02/11/2008 21:44 |
Good idea Joshua! I don't know if I have the funds, but "what the heck!" :O) |
| Joshua R. Mon, 02/11/2008 21:42 |
I've sent an e-mail to Planet Rock suggesting they organise a sale of the station to listeners. I don't know about you lot but I'd be willing to spend my life savings to keep this station on the air, owning part of it would be fantastic. If only someone at the station can get this out and organised then we could save planet rock |
| Adrian B. Mon, 02/11/2008 21:42 |
This is a disaster! I only listen to Radio 4 and Planet Rock. And there is no rock music on Radio 4! |
| Richard N. Mon, 02/11/2008 21:40 |
I got a DAB radio for Christmas and it's tuned in to Pr. I listen to nothing else. Why? I like Classic Rock and find trhe majority, if not all commercial radios to lack identity. They play the same music, ad the same business bar a few local ones. To hear that PR is to stop airing is depressing and just adds more doom and gloom to this year. |
| Simon B. Mon, 02/11/2008 21:39 |
Like most people here it's the only reason I have a DAB radio. Long live PLanet Rock Simon |
| ian f. Mon, 02/11/2008 21:29 |

| Andy M. Mon, 02/11/2008 21:19 |
I bought a DAB car radio, a DAB portable, and a DAB tuner, for indoors, because Planet Rock played "my" music. If Planet Rock closes down there will be no refuge from artless pop pap, indeed the bean counters will have triumphed over pure art yet again. STOP THEM! Save Planet Rock. |
| Adam M. Mon, 02/11/2008 20:46 |
As it's nearly Valentine's, where is the love with shutting down Planet Rock? |
| Steve V. Mon, 02/11/2008 20:45 |
Sad news indeed I hope something can be done to keep Planet Rock rocking! |
| J F. Mon, 02/11/2008 20:42 |
Planet Rock was the ONLY reason I purchased the Pure Evoke Marshall DAB radio. What a shockingly short sighted decision by GCap. |
| Andy J. Mon, 02/11/2008 20:35 |
Capital 95.8 will have a new flexible inventory policy with up to nine minutes of advertising per hour and we plan to dispose of our interest in Digital One, reflecting our view that DAB is not an economically viable platform for the Company. Now does that sound like a sensible business strategy to you?? Get rid of the biggest potential listener base!!! Keep the rock, KEEP PLANET ROCK!! |
| Adam M. Mon, 02/11/2008 20:24 |
Planet Rock is the only radio station that keeps me sane while doing work at home! THE CLOSURE MUST NOT HAPPEN!!!!!! |
| Andy J. Mon, 02/11/2008 20:19 |
Amen to that mate. Seems like every time something good turns up in this country it's stamped on by a big fat cat boot. Long live the rock. |
| melter 6. Mon, 02/11/2008 19:55 |
This station can't disappear! It's the only station worth listening to and the only station to play decent music in this age of manufactured pap (sic) music! |
| shaun t. Mon, 02/11/2008 19:30 |
save planet rock, the only station worth listening to!!!! |
| The F. Mon, 02/11/2008 19:29 |
It's time to make a stand! A great station, a great bunch of people keeping the rock flame burning strong! It would be a disgrace to lose such a pioneering station and one which provides so much to so many in a field that is now becoming celebrated and very much in vogue once more! You know it makes sense! Save our Planet Rock!!! |
| Ken B. Mon, 02/11/2008 19:25 |
Save the Planet Planet Rock! I don't for one second believe this station is losing listeners that's surely BS! I like many other prvious posters here bought a DAB on the strength of this station... Long live Planet Rock!! |
| andrew m. Mon, 02/11/2008 19:18 |
I have just heard the news and cannot belive it, that they have decided to close a station that is original and different from all the others ie plays the music you want. I just hope this petition succeeds as there is nothing else as to replace it |

Planet Rock is unique in this country. We cannot allow the faceless accountants
to ruin our way of life. Long Live Rock an' Roll Long Love Planet Rock. |
| Mike F. Mon, 02/11/2008 17:00 |
You can't allow the only decent music station to close. NO ONE else plays the range and quality of music that Planet Rock does. As with football it's the fans' interests that take second place to the interests of the greysuits. |
| Mark P. Mon, 02/11/2008 16:41 |
Only in the UK, when somethings so successfull then the IDIOTS decide to close it, Now it feels like the whole idea of DAB Seems like a BIG CON, I HOPE SOMEONE ELSE TAKES ON PLANET ROCK AND MAKES IT EVEN BIGGER THAN IT IS NOW........LONG LIVE PLANET ROCK THE ONLY CHANNEL WORTH LISTENING TO. |
| john h. Mon, 02/11/2008 16:30 |

| kevin e. Mon, 02/11/2008 16:13 |
I have dab in most rooms in the house and on Friday I ordered a dab radio for the car. Planet Rock is th main station I listen to. It cannot be lost. |
| The B. Mon, 02/11/2008 16:09 |
I bought DAB radios for the house and cars so that I can listen to Planet Rock. It's the only station I listen to. Don't take it away from me. |
| The B. Mon, 02/11/2008 16:05 |
Long Live Planet Rock! |
| Graham T. Mon, 02/11/2008 15:50 |
Please help is there anywhere else I can listen to Alice Cooper? Planetrock is a brilliant channel and is probably responsible for a lot of DAB radio sales (I've got 3) |
| Sophie C. Mon, 02/11/2008 15:39 |
If they close down Planet Rock, the world has officially lost it's way. |
| Stu B. Mon, 02/11/2008 15:31 |
Don't stop the rock! |
| Suzie H. Mon, 02/11/2008 15:28 |

Save Planet Rock!!!! Apart from money grabbing executives, what's the reason for this? SAVE PLANET ROCK. |
| Stephen A. Mon, 02/11/2008 13:31 |
Planet Rock is the only reason I bought a DAB radio to listen to this station at work. There is little for my age group and music taste to listen to if this station is removed. If the listening figures are going up why stop a good thing. SAVE OUR RADIO STATION !!!!! |
| Gareth S. Mon, 02/11/2008 12:49 |
Save the best station out there! |
| Irene R. Mon, 02/11/2008 12:29 |
Save Planet Rock its the only station I think is worth listening to. |
| Graham H. Mon, 02/11/2008 12:12 |
If GCap are incapable of running this great station then they should seek a more competent buyer. |
| Mr P. Mon, 02/11/2008 12:06 |
I love Planet Rock and have just bought another 2 DAB radios so i can listen to it anywhere.I cant believe a radio station dedicated to only playing rock music is losing listeners everyone i know loves Planet Rock. Stewart(Bognor Regis) |
| Peter S. Mon, 02/11/2008 12:05 |
