Planet Rock is the best music station I have ever listened to. Save the Planet! Tony, Dublin. |
| John R. Tue, 02/12/2008 23:48 |
Don't look to the BBC we all know how biased they are against classic rock |
| Jack D. Tue, 02/12/2008 23:46 |
Great station great music, presenters, atmosphere and community. What more is there to say? To close Planet Rock is madness! |
| Jack D. Tue, 02/12/2008 23:44 |
Great station Great music, members, community and atmosphere. What else is there to say? To close it is madness! |

| Simon W. Tue, 02/12/2008 23:13 |
We must save the best radio station on the airwaves one that doesn't force feed us the drivel that passes for music from Simon Cowell and Co. Fight the Frightful Fru and keep this Panet Rocking! |
| Jonathan M. Tue, 02/12/2008 23:12 |
Its the UK's ONLY classic Rock station. It is Unique. It cannot be allowed to go under. It is also an absolute lifeline to thosands of people through its forum |
| Beatrix K. Tue, 02/12/2008 23:11 |
The Powers that be who control the media won't be happy until they have turned us all into drones, bots and droids fed on a diet of lift muzak presented and chosen by computers. ACCOUNTANTS OUT! CREATIVES IN! PLANET ROCK may be niche, but it is however a very important artform especially when you think of what British bands have contributed to this genre. IT IS YOUR HERITAGE PEOPLE. Don't let the "Greedy Muppets" rob you of that! or all you will have on the airwaves will be "Passionless Sterile FM" Nigel R. |
| peter l. Tue, 02/12/2008 23:10 |
Planet Rock is quite simply the best radio station ever. |
| Clare P. Tue, 02/12/2008 22:53 |
I thought that Planet Rock was one of the most popular digital stations. Surely
this should be oe of the very last to be let go? I'm even more gutted about this
happening than losing our Post Office and believe me, that's a HUGE loss. |
| paul w. Tue, 02/12/2008 22:38 |
If Planet Rock goes then I have four DAB radios for sale as there is no other reason for keeping them. |
| Damon S. Tue, 02/12/2008 22:28 |
Planet Rock is the only radio station in the UK worth listening to if you like Classic Rock. It would be a travesty to see it go like this. |
| Shona C. Tue, 02/12/2008 22:28 |
The swines Gcap media Let's show em, what we want our radios tuned into... Any other action being taken, I will stand 100% behind it. |
| Linda S. Tue, 02/12/2008 22:27 |
i am not english , so i listened to planet rock on it's web site , i know there are a lot more people out there like me. i wonder were we taken into consideration when planet rock calculated it;s audience ? this is the only radio station i listen to at all . keep planet rock on the air so classic rock can be heard on the radio . it is not like i can listen to it anywhere else . |
| Phil C. Tue, 02/12/2008 22:16 |
There is no better Radio Station for playing Classic Rock anywhere... surely the uniqueness of it's style, playlist and output make it too special to stop. Come on guys, re-think this... you have an absolute gem here! |
| The W. Tue, 02/12/2008 22:14 |
The World needs stations like Planet Rock, all that rap and garage and hardcore and **** is whats making the teenagers go off their heads, get them into Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Neil Young etc.....sort them out!!! |
| Irene R. Tue, 02/12/2008 22:13 |
This is like supporting your team everybody getting behind what they believe in, and roaring our heroes on. SAVE PLANET ROCK! Nuff said. Taff |
| Max I. Tue, 02/12/2008 22:06 |
Planet Rock was the reason I bought a DAB radio. This proposed closure is
a defensive move against a takeover bid for GCap. As usual the consumer suffers. If Planet Rock folds I will never bother with GCaps output again. |
| Glyn J. Tue, 02/12/2008 21:52 |
SAVE PLANET ROCK.Like many of you out there,100% behind keeping the best station on air.Not going to repeat what lots have said but hey,it keeps me fit with all the air guitar, and i am sure many more of you out there.KEEP ON ROCKING |
| Kieran D. Tue, 02/12/2008 21:23 |
Don't Stop the Rock |
| Tom D. Tue, 02/12/2008 21:10 |
If the arseholes that supposedly run the station promoted it right, they wouldn't
need to close don't they realise Classic Rock is here to stay & DAB will replace FM soon anyway? |
| reuben b. Tue, 02/12/2008 21:03 |
Stick it to those pen pushing facist bully boys keep planet rock on the air 600 000 fans cant be wrong LONG LIVE ROCK POP IS DEAD |
| Paul T. Tue, 02/12/2008 20:49 |
Despite what GCap say about DAB listeners not listening to Digital only stations
here is one listener who bought a DAB purely so I could listen to Planet Rock
In the US Rock stations are everywhere on the FM dial, here in the UK.....well...pathetic!
Planet Rock filled that gap, if we can have a BBC Asia station which by definition
has a minority audience which is probably less than that of rock music fans why
can't we have a Rock music station? And then they take away the ONLY one we do
have!!!! I will so miss listening to rock music I would never normally get a chance
to hear, PR has opened up my listening horizons by exposing me to new areas of
rock music. I will also sorely miss Rick Wakemans fantastic sense of humour on
a Sat morn RIP Planet Rock shame on you GCap Regards Paul |
| Andy W. Tue, 02/12/2008 20:38 |
Save the rock my DAB radio is only ever tuned to PR cause nothing else comes near!! |
| Pete H. Tue, 02/12/2008 20:29 |
In our office of twelve. Ages 21 to 50. Planet Rock is where we chose to tune in to. Don't let it stop! |
| Steve j. Tue, 02/12/2008 20:20 |
It's the best station out there. It must NOT be allowed to die! |
| david h. Tue, 02/12/2008 20:16 |
Planet Rock cannot be allowed to die , its the only place on the net ,radio or sattalite that plays proper music, it made 750,000 last year , how is that a bad result??? |
| andy R. Tue, 02/12/2008 20:10 |
F*ck Northern Rock SAVE PLANET ROCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Steve Q. Tue, 02/12/2008 20:06 |
This is one station that people hear and say "not heard that song for ages, what station is this?" They then want more. Unlike the so called peoples stations that play the same old garbage programme after programme, being blabbed at by self opionated dimwits. This station is the best around by miles. This station is also the reason for buying DAB radios. You will loose a great assett by closing it down. Turn up the rock!!!!! |
| Adrian B. Tue, 02/12/2008 19:58 |
Absolute disaster! I bought a serious DAB radio so I could listen to Planet
Rock in proper Hi-Fi quality. Since starting to listen I've bought loads of CDs
that I just wouldn't have heard otherwise. How else am I going to get to hear
music I like? Radio 1? 2? 3? 4? I think not. |
| M T. Tue, 02/12/2008 19:48 |
Planet Rock must not die. Where else will we get an Anorak. Time for some of the rock Gods to step in...Please |
| Mark F. Tue, 02/12/2008 19:20 |
Such a void will be created if PR goes. If DAB is supposedly failing, then
put it on FM, too. one of the most succesfull DAB brands does not need to stay shackled by being DAB-only. |
| Jude H. Tue, 02/12/2008 18:59 |
NOOOOOOOOO! My DAB is in the kitchen to give me an incentive to get up in the morning and put the radio on. How will I find the motivation to get out of bed if they take planet rock away? |
| Keith B. Tue, 02/12/2008 18:57 |
Please don't make me listen to my husband moaning if the only station he listens to (Planet Rock) is taken off the air. |
| Laura B. Tue, 02/12/2008 18:32 |
Like many people, I only bought a DAB radio to listen to Planet Rock... there is NOTHING like it so please, please save PR. |
| Gordon J. Tue, 02/12/2008 18:30 |
Just can't believe that the only decent radio station playing real music is threatened with closure. Hope someone can do something to keep it alive. I have only three words to say: SAVE PLANET ROCK!!!! |
| Keith B. Tue, 02/12/2008 18:26 |
Please God don't make me listen to Radio 2 again! I only bought a DAB radio to listen to Planet Rock. |
| John S. Tue, 02/12/2008 17:30 |
I also only bought a DAB so I can listen to Planet Rock at work. Everyone who comes in asks what radio station I have on. After all these years we finally get a dedicated rock station in England, rather than either a one hour rock show in the early hours of the morning, or the brain dead s*it that the rest of the country has to listen to. Deeply distraught if it closes. |
| Paul D. Tue, 02/12/2008 17:25 |
Bring you daughters to the slaughter and save Planet Rock!!!! |
| Joshua R. Tue, 02/12/2008 17:16 |
I'v added this by Fish from the link Donald M posted. We need as many people as possible to take whatever practical measures they can to save the station. We won't let Planet Rock go down without a fight! "What we would like you to do is write into your local papers and music press, contact your local radio stations and write to your MPs to bring it to their attention and to let them know there are thousands of rock music fans out there who want to be able to hear the music they want to hear! Rock music programming has been decimated over the years on national radio and on FM stations in general. Its time we made a stand. We are putting together a campaign that will be supported on my tour in March and with two new Fish programmes being recorded for March you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be making my opinion heard. Ill bring you more news when I get it but for now its time to let our voices be heard." |
| Sarah L. Tue, 02/12/2008 17:01 |
I worked out that if there is more than 500,000 listeners and it's for sale for 2,000,000 then if we chip in 4 each we can get it. This idea may be a bit impractical but it's better than nothing .. Surely Alice Cooper has lots of money stashed around, perhaps he can show his loyalty.. |
| Phil T. Tue, 02/12/2008 16:56 |
Please do not allow Planet Rock to close. It is the only station that makes my daily commute in the car bearable |
| Julian W. Tue, 02/12/2008 16:42 |
SAVE PLANET ROCK. The only reason I bought DAB radio was this station. I have since spent a fortune on buying music I have rediscovered from listening to this fantastic station. It cannot be allowed to die. |
| Jonathan M. Tue, 02/12/2008 16:33 |
Well I might as well throw my DAB radio in the bin. Planet Rock was the only decent station on there. Very sad news. |
| Simon F. Tue, 02/12/2008 16:07 |
Jeez, the only reason I bought a DAB radio is disappearing. Stop grabbing for the easy cheesy FM 'chart' radio stations and leave something on air that has some quality. |
| Phil S. Tue, 02/12/2008 15:50 |
gcap = maximising profits at any cost |
| Donald M. Tue, 02/12/2008 15:13 |
Tim, I've added a link to this petition to the blog I set up http://saveplanetrock.wordpress.com. |
| Emily G. Tue, 02/12/2008 14:12 |
Planet rock is the only station worth tuning in to! lets get on with saving it! We won't back down x |
| Matt C. Tue, 02/12/2008 13:53 |
Planet Rock must not be allowed to die!!! |
| Peter S. Tue, 02/12/2008 11:25 |
According to GCap's website Planet Rock has over half a million listeners and is growing all the time .. A growing listener base is a SUCCESS unless the greedy corporate parasites are LYING to improve their share price.. I hope every one of them ends up destitute ! If Planet Rock closes we should organise a total boycott of ALL GCap media outlets .. |
| gollum d. Tue, 02/12/2008 11:07 |
How the hell can you justify shutting down the greatest rock station ever! bar none. |
| Beth B. Tue, 02/12/2008 11:02 |
In January 2008, Planet Rock reached a new height of 563,000 weekly listeners putting it further ahead of BBC 6 Music. In addition to Planet Rock's success, the PlanetRock forum also reached 4,000 members. The decision to close this station is INSANE. |
| Mark F. Tue, 02/12/2008 09:54 |
Award wining station and listening figues increasing! There must be a hidden agenda for closing Planet Rock. Surely the musicians and DJ's can do something to save possibly the greatest ever radio station? Forty years I have waited for a station like this, and bought four DAB radios so that I can listen to it whereever I am, including in my car. WAKE UP WORLD AND SAVE PLANET ROCK! |
| Kate L. Tue, 02/12/2008 08:10 |
Planet Rock CAN'T close down the SONY GOLD AWARD WINNING STATION is the only reason we have several DAB's in the house and the car!! It is pure greed by FRU & those idiots!! It is GROWING in listeners as word spreads and DAB's become affordable to the masses. Get a grip GC(r)AP leave Planet Rock alone!!!! |
| David P. Tue, 02/12/2008 07:59 |
If there is a plan to save the Planet let us know how. This is a ludicrous decision. |
| Tigger M. Tue, 02/12/2008 02:11 |
Will post this on a couple of forums, I was told about Planet Rock by a mate
& bought a DAB especially, 2 female friends who stayed for a week and listened
were both hooked and they bought DABs too! Just hope more people book advertising
to pay for it all and cheaper lesser known Dj's than celebrity DJ's? Though please keep Alice! |
| Roger T. Tue, 02/12/2008 00:29 |
This act of corporate panic is announced without any regard for the listeners
this great station has attracted, let alone the staff or presenters. We are regarded
as disposable, to be tossed aside by a board of directors in a frantic attempt
to save their own jobs it cannot be allowed to stand. Join together in a massive demonstration of people power sign the petition and fru-fighters unite! |
| Richy J. Tue, 02/12/2008 00:19 |
Devastated by the news. I listen to Planet Rock everyday. I turn the TV off now in the evenings and instead of turning into a vegetable do something more productive whilst listening to Planet Rock.... |
