DAB radio and Planet Rock are a match made in Heaven (& Hell) so why close down a station that was so obviously designed & promotes this media format? |
| mick w. Thu, 02/14/2008 22:40 |
I am absolutely distraught, my dab radio only has one station programmed in, surely us old beer bellied rockers can do something to save the planet talkings cheap, what can we do practically, does anyone have any bright ideas. Mick W |

The only reason I bought a DAB Radio was to listen to Planet Rock and Rick's Place. Just hope that sense will prevail and Planet Rock stays on the air. |
| Peter E. Thu, 02/14/2008 21:12 |
The best classical rock station out there. I will miss listening to Ricks place on a saturday morning? I hope someone can save the station |
| Larry T. Thu, 02/14/2008 21:00 |
Planet Rock's ratings are up! Sales of digital radios are well up! It is an award winner. Business survival is about strengthening up-statistics! The very least you can do is give us all enough time to find someone, who CAN get this station to the potential it IS ALREADY heading towards! |
| john w. Thu, 02/14/2008 20:28 |
gutted, especially as i only found it recently!! the only station to play proper music..save the Rock. ......JW bromley |
| Paul S. Thu, 02/14/2008 19:56 |
Planet Rock to close, hard to believe but sadly true. DON'T DO IT , Planet Rock is by far the best station on the DAB network and its demise will be a travesty. |
| SUE H. Thu, 02/14/2008 18:47 |
Gutted is the only word that comes to mind - we must must must save Planet Rock - if we don't we might as well become faceless zombies listening to the same old plastic drivel from the x-factor generation |
| andy o. Thu, 02/14/2008 18:39 |
Getting rid of Planet rock would be a travesty. It is the best radio station around and by far the best when it comes to playlists. Keep it alive... |
| paul M. Thu, 02/14/2008 17:10 |

Please save Planet Rock the wishes of 6 million people who have bought DAB radios the 600,000 listerners who listen to Planet Rock and the jobs of the people who work there are more important than the profits of corporate organisations and their shareholders Emma |
| rob j. Thu, 02/14/2008 15:47 |
THE best radio station around! It needs to stick around!! |
| Simon L. Thu, 02/14/2008 15:35 |
Planet Rock is the only Radio station I ever listen to, nowhere else plays proper rock music like they do. Plus if I don't hear Rick Wakeman's show on a Saturday morning there's no point getting up before noon. Save Planet Rock please, all other radio stations are terrible by comparison. I love rock and only Planet Rock caters to rock music lovers!!!! |
| Ali R. Thu, 02/14/2008 15:08 |
Without Planet Rock how will the planet rock???!!!! Don't let the bean counters win! Save it! Save it now! |
| Euan D. Thu, 02/14/2008 15:06 |
Rock N' Roll Ain't Noise Pollution!! Planet Rock's the only reason I bought a DAB radio!! |
| jase r. Thu, 02/14/2008 14:31 |
quality sounds by quality artists. Planet Rock is a haven for real music fans. I oppose the closure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Richard F. Thu, 02/14/2008 14:03 |
In the midst of so much artistic mediocrity, rock music must have a prominent place in the broadcast media. Planet Rock must survive ! |
| Steph T. Thu, 02/14/2008 13:52 |
No Planet Rock? Unthinkable!! Baby, please don't go! |
| Trevor B. Thu, 02/14/2008 13:37 |
Keep this station alive! It's the only one I listen to and the reason is because the DJ's play what I like to hear. Everything else is just noise to me! |
| John C. Thu, 02/14/2008 13:25 |
The best radio station in history |
| Andrew M. Thu, 02/14/2008 13:16 |
Im getting a digital radio for my Birthday. The only reason I am getting it is so that I can listen to Planet Rock. I listened to a request show one Sunday morning while hung-over at a friends house and it sorted me out. I think they were playing some Rush :) |
| James C. Thu, 02/14/2008 13:14 |
Don't let it die! |
| Hazza H. Thu, 02/14/2008 13:07 |

| David B. Thu, 02/14/2008 11:31 |
Has to be saved. Like many others on here, the ONLY reason I got DAB! Surely there are enough star DJ's from the station alone out there to buy it out? Mr Wakeman? Mr Cooper? Mr Fish? Mr Iommi? Mr May also declared an interest? MCFCTrick. Manchester. |
| Steve R. Thu, 02/14/2008 11:20 |
I grew up with Classic Rock. I wouldn't be where I am today without it?! (Right CJ!) I have been critical of it on the PR forum - but out of love for what I'd like to do to improve it, to make it an even better radio station. It's still the best rock radio that's EVER been aired on the UK airwaves. Long may it reign. We need your help readers! |
| sachin m. Thu, 02/14/2008 11:08 |
I discovered this station whe i was in the uk.......got completely hooked on to it.......its the best and now im back in India and i still a regular listener on the net.........PLEASE DONT TAKE IT OFF.......ITS THEBEST THING EVER..........why doesnt anyone take a hip hop-rap, techno, dance music or a BOLLYWOOD station off the air........can we get guys from Iron Maiden to join in...........its the only station that gives them the airplay they deserve.......SAVE PLANET ROCK...............UP THE IRONS |
| Bourne R. Thu, 02/14/2008 11:06 |
The only reason I bought a DAB (and I now have 2) - I've never listened to any other channel on DAB. Planet Rock is the best thing to happen in radio during my lifetime and is unlikely to be bettered. So save it!!! |
| richard d. Thu, 02/14/2008 11:01 |

| James C. Thu, 02/14/2008 10:43 |

Its on every single day of the year including xmas day! Summer evenings sitting on the patio will never be the same without PR. Keep Rockin. Col Mac |
| Steve R. Thu, 02/14/2008 10:16 |
I can't believe GCAP are being so short-sighted. Let's hope someone successfully takes them over and Planet Rock can be saved. If they can't make it pay with half a million listeners that smacks of mismanagement. Perhaps if DAB had a proper coverage more people would listen to it? |
| michelle w. Thu, 02/14/2008 10:07 |
I have been listening to planet rock since it started and it has been like a very good friend to me, always there whenever i am feeling low and need cheering up. My DAB radio is only tuned to one station and thats the BEST one out there. It will be a very sad day indeed if it has to close. KEEP ON ROCKING GUYS. |
| ANGUS S. Thu, 02/14/2008 09:49 |
Keep Planet Rock ROCKIN! We need to save Planet Rock. |
| Alan B. Thu, 02/14/2008 09:48 |
I have waited years for a proper rock station in the UK. Planet Rock is simply fantastic and must not be allowed to close. Come on people lets stop this happening ! |
| Tony D. Thu, 02/14/2008 09:12 |
This must not be allowed to happen,it would be a bad blow to rock music :( |
| brian T. Thu, 02/14/2008 09:11 |
just save Planet rock ok |
| Ian C. Thu, 02/14/2008 08:29 |
Planet Rock is the first Radio Station I listened to which appeals to me. After being a rock/metal fan since the 1970s, I've always had to listen to the odd show here and there, usually late at night. If GCap Media are short sighted enough to close Planet Rock, then they will alienate me and half a million other people who tune in. |
| Steve B. Thu, 02/14/2008 07:53 |
Please don't close Planet Rock, there are some excellent shows on it and we can't afford to loose another good Radio Station..... |
| Rich M. Thu, 02/14/2008 07:42 |
I have been on the Planet Rock website and understand it is due to close down, why? It's the best Radio Station around, I listen to it on my DAB radio in the kitchen everyday. If it wasn't for Alice Coopers Breakfast Show I'd never go to work in the morning it gets me fired up for the day. I think you need to seriously consider the closure, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that the station is the best around. There's enough stations out there playing middle of the road drivel. We need a real rock station and Planet Rock provides that. So I ask you again please keep Planet Rock alive. |
| Marq L. Thu, 02/14/2008 05:10 |
Please please please please please please please please please please please
please please please please please please please please please please - think
again!! Planet Rock is a rare gem in the wash of same-old-same-old-spoon-fed excuses
for radio stations. (Re gee c.'s message below I note there is a Planet Rock TV station on Sky. I assume this is the same company). |
| gee c. Thu, 02/14/2008 01:01 |
Planet rock is the ONLY reason I bought a DAB radio. If they close it I will throw my DAB radio in the skip and I vow never to listen to digital radio again. People who tune in to planet rock do so for good reason. It plays music that cannot be heard elsewhere. Why not try promoting it properly so that it can increase it's audience. We could do with a TV version too. Closing it down......are they mad ???. Let the BBC buy it and make the licence fee worth paying for once. |
| Dave H. Thu, 02/14/2008 00:43 |
Save Planet Rock. I've been listening to this station for the last 3 years or so. It keeps me sane when I'm in the office on my own. We cannot allow PR to die. |
| Pete S. Thu, 02/14/2008 00:31 |
Planet Rock its the reason I bought a DAB radio and its the only radio station I listen to. In fact it's the only one WORTH listening to, not just for the great music but the information, background and insights into rock music. I've learnt so much and heard so many great tracks that have passed me by for various reasons I'm actually buying music again! My Motown loving wife even enjoys listening to it and I've started going to gigs again (with my daughter, wifey won't go quite that far!). Fantastic youth regained. For God's sake, it's gotta keep going! |
| Rob W. Thu, 02/14/2008 00:30 |
Save this Channel, not many decent rock channels left anymore!!!!! |
| Phil C. Thu, 02/14/2008 00:14 |
Save this channel, it's the only one I can listen to without resorting to pulling my hair out... |
