I brought four DAB radio sets just so I could listen to Planet Rock. It is, hands down, THE BEST radio station on air and there just has to be a way we can keep them going. Besides, I really need my daily fix of 'Breakfast with Alice', it sets me up for the rest of the day...

This is ridiculous. Mainstream radio contains a whole lot of naff DJ's playing either dreadful chart music, or boring oldies. I am sick of hearing the same old rubbish day in day out, as many adult radio listeners are. It's a new century so 'WAKE UP GCAP' it's about time you realised that this & other generations need more choice and will have more choice one way or another. If Planet Rock goes off, so will my radio for good and I will have to resort to internet radio only, where at least I WILL get the choice I want. I know many other people who feel this way. Cut your costs elsewhere, otherwise you will find over the coming years that more and more people will boycott your stations, as radio and media choices will move on and leave you behind.

you just CANNOT get rid of PR.... it's the ONLY decent thing there is in this godforsaken land of chavs and radio 1 to listen to..... it's the main reason I got my DAB..... can't get anything else decent on it except when Uncle Bruce is on 6music or radio 2.... figures prove that it is adding listeners every quarter so that argument don't hold water... DAB doesn't reach all of the UK but it still has 563000 listeners according to the rajar figures.... that's a hell of a lot of people to just chuck away... I guess it's just the old "it's rock, it's unfashionable, we don't really want to be associated with this and now we've done our bit we'll just get rid.... I don't think that they realise just how much we appreciate all the hard work everybody connected with the station does & the dedication they show...(obviously not the idiots in the boardroom) something has GOT to be done to SAVE THE PLANET

All day at work i have to listen to the local FM station, and it the only decent music i can get is the odd Bon Jovi track, and the one time they played November Rain by GNR - and promptly (and wholly expected by me) cut the guitar solo at the end! The highlight of my day is getting home and putting some decent music on the radio, and that is on one station PLANET ROCK! Saturday mornings wont be the same without Ricks place either!

Cannot believe this news. Before planet rock, I did not listen to radio. I have spent the last few years in radio heaven. I have bought four DAB radios, just to listen to Planet Rock. Common sense needs to prevail here. Either Planet Rock is saved, or radio gets consigned to Room 101.

There is an audience in the UK that just loves rock music with classic tracks played in full, no gibbering idiots speaking over classic intros or ends and presenters who love the music as much as the fans. I have only been able to find one station that delivers that UK wide on digital radio. Planet Rock. I haven't listened to Radio One since the demise of The Friday Rock Show. The Kerrang! station doesn't, from what I've heard of it, live up to expectations. Rock fans are the most loyal music fans.

This must be a gcap problem - not a Planet Rock one... Surely the target audience (age and demographics) must make this station an instant winner with advertisers. Yet all GCap manage to attract is low end addies ( such direct.gov.uk etc). Come on, someone must be able to buy this station and run it as a success! -

I think Ms. Hazlitt needs to take another good look at her strategy statement and continue to provide (and I quote) "platforms that listeners want". I think this forum and the many others says it all. Wake up madam - Long live Planet Rock!

My 17 year old daughter listens just as much as I do, so Planet Rock has a future fan base as well as an existing one. The DJs have superior knowledge and passion (unlike some teen stations who deal only in expletives). Planet Rock has quality, and with such a large listener profile, it has quantity too.
