Save Planet Rock!!! |
| Adam B. Tue, 03/18/2008 15:52 | Please save Planet Rock... Saturday mornings wouldn't be the same without Rick Wakeman. And where else could you hear almost an hour of Fish live? Brilliant station keeping real music alive - it must not die. |

Please, dont let Planet Rock die. It's the only decent rock station that we have, to loose it would be terrible. Get your friend to sign the petition, and listen to the Station! Some of you will be old enough to remember the empty void that was radio back in the 1960's when the then Labour Government forced the radio pirates off the air. To see it happen again to a legal station in the 21st century will be a crime! |
| michael l. Tue, 03/18/2008 09:53 | Isn`t it sad, that nowdays, everything is about profit. "Not making enough money ? Close it !" We ( the listener ) have now got a station dedicated to playing "our" type of music. Is it not enough that sufficient money is made to pay the bills ? Come on GCAP, for once in your life do something for the people you purport to want to entertain, not the shareholders and financiers. Why the hell are most things today, about money ? |

you said above: The part of the campaign to PLEDGE funds to enable a listener-backed buy-out of Planet Rock has now closed. The idea was launched on the Planet Rock forum on 22nd Feb (following many comments from people suggesting such a buy-out), but after 10 days, unfortunately, only 117 people came forward to pledge funds, which, as of last night, totalled a mere £22,270 (and we really needed something like £2 million !!)" I must have been asleep, cos I dont remember seeing this pledge site! & I'm sure I'm not alone.. It needed more publicity not to be shut down. so what's the latest news? |
| Tim O. Tue, 03/18/2008 18:21 | Marc, We closed the PLEDGE campaign, simply because after 10 days we only had 117 people contributing a mere £22,000 to the cause. If we'd kept it going another 3 weeks, up to 28th March, then we'd have probably generated no more than about £60,000 - which is nowhere near enough. We promoted the PLEDGE campaign both via the Planet Rock forum, and here....so there was plenty of chances for people to get involved....but not enough wanted to....so, there seemed little point wasting time and energy on something that wouldn't help. Instead, we've spent the time generating links on rock bands and musicians websites...and this is working well. Hopefully, a buyer will be found....! rgds, Tim O. |
